Module 2: Assignment 4

TETRA CORPORATION

Background Information: This portion of the media kit would include information not only about the company and how it got started, but also about the creator of the new concept, as well as the new concept itself. Each section would be informational yet concise, as journalists do not want to read fluff that doesn’t provide them the information they need.

Fact Sheet: This portion of the media kit would include a bulleted list of simple and to the point information about the company, the new concept, the primary foods included in the food pyramid, and the creator of the new concept. This is similar to the background information but is more consolidated and provides the most important information in an easy to read format.

News Release: This portion of the media kit would include main answers to the five c’s, and provide an easy to follow story for media coverage. The company’s logo and contact information should be located at the top of the release and contain the facts while still maintaining the media’s attention.

Photos: This portion of the media kit would include photos of the new food pyramid, graphics of the new concept, photos of Tetra Corporation’s executives as well as before and after photos of fish that benefited from the new concept, to show the success of the concept. Providing visuals to the media not only give the reporters a better idea of the concept, but also enhance their media coverage.

Question and Answer: This portion of the media kit would include any anticipated questions about the company and the new concept. This could range from “what should I feed my fish,” to “how was the concept created.” This portion should be reader friendly and informative. Media will benefit from this by receiving additional information not usually included in press releases.

  1. Taylor,

Great explanation on what you would use in your digital media kit. Your reasoning behind all your choices makes a lot of sense. Like you, I used many of the same things you did in my assignment!

  2. Hello Taylor!

Great job on adding the photo part in. I truly believe that this is a way to sell the new concept! Would you think videos could be helpful also?

    1. Absolutely, I think that would be a great addition to the Q&A section in regards to what to use, how to use etc. Just a quick and easy to follow short video to give consumers a visual. Great thought!

  3. Hi Taylor,
I agree with Elissa and Lindsay! I think you included all of the essential elements! I like that you would add a Q&A section as well! I included two fact sheets in mine (one on the product, one on the company). However, I really like that you would separate the two (one fact sheet, one backgrounder). I think including a backgrounder is a great way to convey this information instead of just summarizing it in a bullet pointed list! Nice job!

  4. I love your explanations! I have been telling people they need more than this, however, with your explanations it seems that you would be okay with the information you are providing! Well done!

    1. Thank you so much! I really wanted to convey everything without smothering the consumer so I'm glad you thought it was enough but not too much!

  5. I think you did really well on this assignment. You seemed to have covered all of the bases for each one and I liked the way you provided your reasoning for what you said should be done. I liked the idea of providing the before and after photos so the consumers can see the process that it had to go through. Really great ideas!

  6. Hi Taylor,
Great job! Just some suggestions, in mine I also said that I would include bio information as well as a social media section for readers to stay engaged. Otherwise well done!

    1. That is a great idea, especially to gain loyal customers on social media because word of mouth is so valuable to marketing. It is a great idea to provide consumers a way to stay engaged, thanks for the suggestion!

  7. Taylor,

What about Bio's for the executives? You state that you'll talk a lot about the company, but what about the people working in it? Don't you want to know more about who you would potentially work with and talk about. Still, good job, as you always do!
